What is KBS World Kong?

KBS World Kong is a digital web radio service that KBS World has created using advanced technology. With only a single click via internet, you’re able to enjoy crystal-clear sound on all of KBS’s radio channels. You can easily download and install this multi-functional web service on your personal computer. Membership registration and use is free of charge.

How to Install KBS World Kong?

Follow the steps below and you can enjoy listening to Korean KBS world radio whatever and whenever online. To tune in to Kong, visit the KBS website (https://sso.kbs.co.kr/Join/join_eng.asp), and sign up to become a member. The following steps are based on “Foreigner Living Abroad” which I think most of you are, there are four steps in order to register as a member.

  • Terms of Service and Confirmation of Real Name. – Remember to tick on “Agree on the Terms of Service” and “Agree on the Privacy Protection Policies”. Then, proceed to the next step.
  • Fill-in Member Information – Please remember to “check your ID for Use. All must be lower case and click confirm. Please make sure all information are accurate.
  • Fill-in Interested Content
  • Membership Registration Completion

The last step:

“Your membership application has been processed! For non-Korean citizens, please send a copy of your passport or identification either by e-mail or fax for membership approval. e-mail : member@kbs.co.kr / fax : 02-6939-8886”

This is the most important steps. You must either send a copy of your passport or identification through email or fax to KBS Word radio and have to wait for a confirmation email before you can log on. If not you may not able to log on Kong.

Hit the download button for Kong (http://www.kbs.co.kr/radio/kong/install/index.html), then install the program. Follow steps below.

  • Hit the setup after you downloaded it from KBS world link above and click “다음(N)”
  • Fill in the “사용자 이름(U) – Your username” and “조직 (O) – Your organization (if any)”. For “다음 사용자용으로 프로그램을 설치합니다”, click either – 컴퓨터를 사용하는 모든 사용자 – For all users using the computer will be able to use Kong. or 사용자 전용 – Only the user can log on Kong.
  • Hit 다음(N) and then 설치(I)

After that, you’ll see the KBS Kong icon appear on your desktop. When you get your confirmation email, open the program and then log on. Finally, hit “1FM, 2FM, 1R etc,etc..” to tune into KBS World Radio. Hit “보라” and wait for few seconds/minutes depends on how fast your internet bandwidth to watch the KBS World Radio on air, however, it is limited to certain program, some program, there will be no “보라”. Enjoy yourself with Korean KBS World Radio – Gong!
